Every evidence-based practice (EBP) is adapted in some way when implemented in real-world settings. This interactive workshop will focus on best practices for adapting EBPs to meet local and cultural needs. We will discuss what EBPs and adaptations are, common reasons adaptation is needed, and best practices to guide and implement adaptations. We will also review frameworks to guide the adaptation process to ensure optimal outcomes while maintaining the integrity of the EBP. 

Participants will:

• Understand how and why adaptations can affect the outcomes of an EBP
• Understand what types of adaptations can be problematic and how to identify alternatives
• Understand and practice how to make adaptations to meet local needs while maintaining fidelity to the EBP model

 

Who should attend: All staff of family resource centers (FRCs), Child Abuse Prevention Councils (CAPCs), community-based organizations, and other child- and family-serving systems.

• This is an interactive training. Please be prepared to participate in activities such as group discussion, breakout rooms, and/or demonstration. Your training experience will be best with the use of a webcam, audio, and a training environment conducive to active participation.
• This training will be recorded. The recording will be available to registered learners within 2 days of the training.
