MEET THE SPEAKER

Melissa Hannah has been the Executive Director of United Parents since 2021, steering the ship with the same determination she has used to navigate a life of service to her community. Joining United Parents in 2017, Melissa has been instrumental in advocating for parent-caregiver rights across California, while also balancing the daily chaos of raising an 8-year-old, tending to her animal menagerie, and cultivating her garden—her personal oasis of calm.

Before taking the helm at United Parents, Melissa was a Program Operations Supervisor at Tarzana Treatment Center, where she managed chronic disease, substance use, and Medi-Cal retention contracts. She was recognized as “Supervisor of the Year” in 2015 for her commitment to building community and promoting the health and well-being of children and their families.

Her journey into health advocacy began in Ventura County, educating after-school students on health and wellness—because if you can keep a room full of kids engaged, you can pretty much handle anything.

Prior to serving the community, Melissa worked at Costco Wholesale for 20 years. During her tenure she reached her educational goals, gained a positive work ethic, and established lifelong friendships with the most supportive human beings (outside of her family).

Melissa’s Costco days weren’t just about bulk buying; it’s where she built lifelong friendships and honed her ability to navigate any situation, be it a warehouse or a boardroom. Now, she channels that experience into making United Parents more efficient and effective, all while sneaking in some alone time whenever she can.
