Introduction to Systems Change

To make lasting, transformational progress in communities, collaborative initiatives often pursue both programmatic work and systems change strategies. But the idea of “systems change” can feel vague and can be interpreted in a range of ways by different individuals. This session will introduce a framework for concretely thinking about the different components and strategies for systems change from the publication, “The Water of Systems Change,” and support participants in assessing system change opportunities within their own work. Workshop co-lead John Kania, co-author of numerous publications on collective impact and co-author of “The Water of Systems Change,” will also share additional and evolving perspectives on systems change.
