Participants will take their own cultural journey and to understand how their own experiences impact their ability to serving families. They will explore their personal culture and how it impacts their interactions with families. Additionally, participants will examine their experiences with race and bias. Participants will have the opportunity to appreciate how culture, race and bias impacts their families and how to connect with people of different cultures to better serve their needs. Participants will explore the role that organizations, institutions, and society play role in family engagement.

 

Learners will:

• Explore their personal culture and how it impacts their interaction with families
• Appreciate the cultural differences that families bring to services
• Understand how the Cycle of Socialization families experiences

 

Who should attend: All staff of family resource center (FRCs), child abuse prevention councils (CAPCs), and other child and family-serving organizations.

 

IMPORTANT TRAINING INFORMATION:

• This is an interactive training. Please be prepared to participate in activities such as group discussion, break out rooms, and/or demonstration. Your training experience will be best with the use of a web cam, audio, and a training environment conducive to active participation.
• This training will be recorded. The recording will be available to registered learners within 2 days of the training.
