Supporting Relational and Cultural Permanency for Youth Through Safety Organized Practice

Relational and cultural permanency for youth is essential for their belonging, overall well-being and positive outcomes.  For this reason, it is critical to maintain a central focus on this work and to do so with consistency and rigor.  This workshop will provide practical strategies on how to utilize Safety Organized Practice tools and techniques to collaborate with youth and their networks to support relational and cultural permanency.

Presenter:

  • Monica Montury, LCSW, M.S.W.Monica Montury, LCSW, M.S.W., is an academic coordinator with Human Services at the University of California (UC), Davis Continuing and Professional Education.  She worked for San Luis Obispo County Child Welfare Services from 2010 to 2022 as a social worker and supervisor.  Montury has experience supervising all ongoing services and played a lead role in developing the Voluntary Family Maintenance and Child and Family Team Meetings Programs in San Luis Obispo County.  She is a fierce supporter of Safety Organized Practice (SOP) and has experience in implementing, training and coaching SOP.  She also has a passion for supporting Child Welfare agencies in furthering and strengthening prevention efforts and strategies.
