This webinar will provide a summary of the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI), including an overview of the components and status of the fee schedule, school grants, and community-based practice grants. We’ll look at opportunities for partnerships, examples of community-defined practice grants, and integration with other funding and programming (CalAIM, BH CONNECT, FFPS). The presenters will also introduce the Catalyst Center’s new HCAI Substance Use Disorder Training Project.

 

Participants will:

  • Understand opportunities for partnership under the CYBHI
  • Understand funding mechanisms under the CYBHI and other initiatives
  • Identify one best practice from the field

 

Who should attend: Leaders and staff of family resource centers, community-based organizations, and other child- and family-serving systems; County leadership in behavioral health, child welfare, education, and prevention services.

  • This is a webinar-style training. This means that you will not be on camera and will not be able to see other learners. This training will not include breakout rooms. Opportunities to interact with the presenter(s) and other participants will be included.

MEET THE SPEAKERS

Adrienne is the Vice President of Public Policy & Strategy, overseeing the work of the Policy Team. She is a recognized expert in mental health policy who has devoted her career to improving the well-being of people living with brain illness and substance use disorders.

Prior to her position with the CA Alliance, she held various roles, including as the director of government affairs for the County Behavioral Health Directors Association. Before joining CBHDA, Adrienne was a senior associate with the nonprofit California Institute for Behavioral Health Solutions, and a senior policy analyst with the California Council of Community Behavioral Health Agencies. She has been a champion for culturally relevant program design, incorporating peer support as a crucial piece of recovery, and using evaluation and outcomes-based reporting to drive strategy.

Shilton has served as an adviser on several statewide efforts and currently sits on multiple task forces working to improve behavioral health policy in California, with a particular focus on youth, young adults, and families.

Christine Stoner-Mertz, LCSW, is the CEO of the California Alliance of Child and Family Services and its Catalyst Center. As a practitioner, administrator, advocate, and former foster parent, Ms. Stoner-Mertz brings her personal and professional expertise to the policy and practice efforts of the Alliance and Catalyst, a training and technical assistance program focused on practice improvement in children and family services. Representing member organizations providing behavioral health, child welfare and education services, she helps to ensure that policy reflects the needs of provider organizations and those they serve.

Previously, Ms. Stoner-Mertz served as President and CEO of Lincoln Families, an agency delivering community-based services in the San Francisco Bay area. She has also served on state and national boards of behavioral health associations and worked as a consultant to numerous nonprofits, county departments, and the State of California.

Ms. Stoner-Mertz was a co-founder of Seneca Family of Agencies, a state-wide nonprofit. A sought-after expert on MediCal EPSDT program design and implementation, she has expertise in integrating funding streams to effectively address the behavioral health needs of children, youth, and families. She has served on the boards of directors of the California Alliance, the California Council of Behavioral Health Agencies, and the National Council of Behavioral Health Organizations and has been the recipient of numerous service and leadership awards during her career, including the Jefferson Award for Public Service.
